American Airlines Back In Action
American Airlines has had some troubles in the past. I even know a few people who have been laid off within the last five years. But, the worlds largest airline company has been improving since. According to an article at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7602277/ American Airlines has approved a 1.5% raise for all management and non-union members. In all it totals 6,500 employees out of the population of 85,000. Although this wage increase seems small, and the total amout of people eligible to receive this raise even smaller, it shows that American Airlines isn't turning belly up.
After the 9/11 attack, American Airlines lost 6.4 billion dollars and had to reduce wages. Since then it has been an upward battle to retain the number one status that it had in the past. Due to the high fuel prices and concerned flyers, American Airlines lost money the first quarter of last year. But as the year went on, revenue for AA increased by 5.3 percent totaling 4.75 billion dollars. It is expecting to make over 4.77 billion dollars this year.
