I Love Bald Eagles!!!!!
Yes! My name is Derek and I love Bald Eagles!! This beautiful, majestic, powerful being of flight is the national bird of the United States. This beautiful bird is a large, powerful, brown bird with a white head and tail. The term “bald” does not mean this bird lacks feathers. They are about 32 inches long, and with wingspan, about 80 inches. It simply comes from the word piebald, which means “marked with white”. In the 1600s when Europeans arrived in North America, there were an estimated 25,000 to 50,000 bald eagles, but in 1967 the eagle was included on the Endangered Species List. Many bald eagles in Florida were forced to fly away from the Hurricane last year, but now they are returning and instead of perching high in trees they are perching in buildings and lower trees. Most of the high trees and there nests were destroyed by the wind and the rain, but they are still flourishing. With our help, our flying friends cannot only survive, but can multiply and be a growing sign of the power and perseverance of the United States of America.
